Molly is the lucky recipient of many handed down treasures from the neighbor kids. One recent fave is the swim goggles seen here.
These arrived on our doorstep anonymously; our thanks to whomever made bath time so much more Jacques Cousteau-ish.

Just call her Mary Lou
Flower Girl, Take II
Two weeks ago it was off to Montana for Molly's cousin Katie's wedding. Molly was thrilled to be a flower girl in the wedding. This photo captures a highlight, the cake.
This was Molly's second trip down the aisle as a flower girl. The first one she made in the arms of the father of the bride. This one she made on her own two legs, holding hands with her cousins Robert and Fiona.
There were no crazy flower girl antics (no one saw her underwear during the ceremony), she was patient and easy going through a day of waiting and photos and very little napping, and she was the life of the party at the reception. George and I were so proud.

First day of school
Molly started Montessori school last week. Here she is on her first day of school with her backpack on. The first two days were sad goodbyes, but she has already started asking me to drop her off down the block; guess her mom dropping her off in the Subaru wagon is not helping her maintain her indie cred with her new friends.

Baby Fairy
Reading to Baby
Molly is a natural mama, and loves to nurture her babies. Here she is reading one of my all time favorites to Baby Binky - "The Monster at the End of this Book" by Grover.
boat ride
I think this one is pretty self-explanatory. I will say that Molly was having a lot more fun than her face might indicate here.
Mike & Ken
These guys have been practically living at our house while we remodel our basement. The project is nearly done and we are thankful for it, but will miss having them around. Molly will especially miss the donuts Mike brings.

Summer here, summer not
It's September, and with it comes the promise of a renewed energy in blogging. I feel like a 7th grader with my brand new Trapper Keeper.
Summer was great. We went to Montana with our friends, drank lots of Riesling and Lillet. Swam at the pool and fell more in love with our new neighborhood.
(Oh that. Somewhere back in the dark winter months we moved into a new house. We love it.)

Father's day
*(Note) Someone warned me not to let all the missed bloggortunities paralyze me and stop the blog in its tracks. I get it. So, without further ado - the present.
A couple of weeks ago Molly went to her first club, a place up on Capitol Hill called Neumos. The last time I was at this particular venue Molly was just a twinkle in God's eye, and it was to see The Mountain Goats.
What I'm saying is; this was not Gymboree folks.
It was a Father's Day Dance party hosted by our local independent radio station, KEXP. There was music, break dancing lessons, arts and crafts and as you can see, a crown making station. Molly had a great time and when she saw this picture she shrieked "Moh-wa dance party!"
The event was held smack dab in the middle of naptime, so we cut out a little early to head down to the in-laws for more Father's Day celebrating.
This photo was taken by one of the KEXP photographers at the event.

VANCOUVER!
we took a family vacation to Vancouver BC in August. There was a municipal strike on...luckily we found a fabulastic water park instead!
On the ferry ride to granville island. Pay no attention to the man in the crazy glasses.
drinking sparkly water and modeling daddy's new canadian sunglasses at our sweet little bungalow.
just to prove I was there too.

first bike ride
About an hour after these photos were taken I got a call from George for help. Apparently Molly is not a big fan of the Burly trailer or the bike helmet. George couldn't take the cries from the back anymore and pulled over on the side of the road to wait for rescue. Maybe next summer we'll give it another try.
My advice to other parents considering buying a bike trailer? Borrow one first.

catching up
Uh, hi. Do you believe me when I say it's been a busy few months? It has, I swear. Especially for one Molly Niamh. So let's not waste time talking about who did or didn't remember to post any blog entries for the past 6 months and get right to business.
